The application of semiconductor is very wide. According to T4 statistics, the market share of the global semiconductor industry is approximately US$4.810 billion in 2019. T4 also predicts that from 2016 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of the semiconductor industry is 9%. In 2020, due to the impact of the epidemic, the production capacity of semiconductor will decline, and the compound annual growth rate is expected to decrease to 5% in 2020.

Currently, the main driving factors for the growth of the semiconductor industry are the emergence of new packaging technologies and the development of terminal markets. The growth of semiconductor application is based on the following sectors: growing consumer electronics, new wireless and wired communications, the automotive industry, the penetration of medical equipment in the healthcare field, the emergence of artificial intelligence and machine learning, and so on.
In 2020, affected by the epidemic, some applications in specific areas have been developing rapidly. On the one hand, the demand for semiconductors in wired communication applications has surged. Flexible working has given birth to the upgrade of corporate infrastructure. As more and more employees work from home, the upgrade of home working network stimulates the demand for cable/DSL and wireless routers. Higher Internet traffic will stimulate cloud services and related computing nodes. The greater demand for optical fiber connections in the data center will increase the optical and electrical requirements. On the other hand, the rise of video conferencing and live broadcasting has increased the demand for cloud services, and the upgrade of cloud servers also depends on the supply of semiconductors. Working from home will also make consumers buy more gaming equipment, audio equipment and some kitchen equipment.
China's semiconductor talent gap continues to expand

According to official statistics, in terms of Fabless sector, according to the current number of Fabless companies registered in China, market share and future development plans, the industry is estimated the talent gap has reached 220,000, and the number of semiconductor-related talents cultivated by local universities in China is only about 30,000 per year, so talent introduction will also be the key point of the next phase of recruitment.
From the perspective of recruitment, there are certain differences in the salary of semiconductor talents at home and abroad. To give a very intuitive and realistic example, the salary gap may be more than twice between domestic and foreign companies if two candidates with equivalent work experience and academic background apply for the same Commercial port position.
